为凝聚全国八十一间国民型华文中学 ( 前此统称改制国中 ) 力量，同心协力共求进步，马来西亚国民型华文中学校长理事会在教育部的认可下，于一九九四年成立。迄今经有近十年历史。期间在历届主席和本会顾问何尔荣博士的努力下，为争取本源流中学合法的基本权益与发展空间，做出了一定的贡献。譬如在争取保留国民型 既 SMJK 名称的努力，给予董事部较好的配合，达致目标。
新届理事也于二零零三年成功筹资十万令吉，设立了一个涵盖全国八十一间国民型华文中学的教育网络 ( 简称华中网 ), 朝华文中学精明 化迈开一步。本会也于同年创办第一届华中杯全国中学国会式华语辩论比赛，开放予各国民和国民型中学参加。
SMJK Council or Majlis Pengetua Sekolah- sekolah Menengah Conforming Malaysia was registered on 10th May 1994 in Kuala Lumpur. It was established with the aim of managing all matters related to conforming schools. Since its formation in 1994, the Council of SMJK Principals Malaysia has been working tirelessly to promote the cause of the 81 SMJK schools. The Council is proud to note that it has made significant contributions in this respect. The SMJK Education Portal is the latest effort by the Council to bring further progress to this community of schools.
